Gateway is a Member of New York State Industries for the Disabled

These products are available to your agency, under the provisions of Section 162 of the New York State Finance Law. The law requires all state agencies, political subdivisions (including towns, cities, and counties), public benefit corporations, school districts, and other local governmental agencies purchase state approved commodities from New York State Industries for the disabled at prices established by the NYS Office of General Services.

NYSID is a nonprofit organization established in 1976 by the New York State Commissioner for Education in response to amendments in Sections 175a and 175b of the State Finance Law.

The changes in the law added rehabilitation agencies for severely disabled persons to the organizations eligible to be considered for state contracts as preferred sources who do not have to go through the competitive bidding process.

The purpose of the law is to provide vocational training opportunities and job experience to people with disabilities - to help make state support for these goals not just as an expression, but an actuality.

NYSID was set up to act as the central coordinator for its member rehabilitation agencies in pursuing and carrying out commodities and services contracts with state agencies and political subdivisions.
